Music on Merch: A Centennial Night in Downtown Morris Plains
What better way to celebrate 100 years of Morris Plains than with live music, good food, local favorites and a night together downtown?
On Saturday, September 26 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Morris Plains Centennial Committee is bringing Music on Merch, a mini music festival, to the Merchant Block. The street will be closed to traffic for the evening, creating a walkable, outdoor gathering space right in the heart of our downtown.
The evening will feature four musical performers: Emcee Julia Cama, Candice Lee, 202 Band and Declan O'Hara. You can also find Autodidact Beer selling their local craft beer, as well as food for sale from local vendors, Cartisan Mobile Cheese Bar NJ and Coniglio's.
Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket, grab a spot and settle in for an evening of music. And don't forget the picnic dinner!
Music on Merch is also a great opportunity to support the businesses that make Morris Plains special. Before heading to the Merchant Block, pick up takeout from a local restaurant, grab sandwiches or snacks for your picnic, or stop for a special dessert or treat to enjoy during the show.
Come downtown a little early and make an evening of it. Browse a shop you've been meaning to visit, pick up something special, grab a coffee or drink, or take care of an errand before finding your spot for the music. Even a small purchase is a meaningful way to support the local businesses that invest in our community throughout the year.
And don't limit yourself to the businesses immediately surrounding the Merchant Block. Music on Merch is a reason to celebrate all our incredible businesses. Consider ordering dinner from another local favorite on your way over or stopping somewhere else in town before or after the festival.
Our Centennial is about more than looking back at 100 years of Morris Plains history. It's also a celebration of the community we are today, including dozens of restaurants, shops, salons and other businesses that choose Morris Plains and give back in various ways throughout the year.
Music on Merch brings all of that together for one September night to remember. So pack your chairs and blankets, order your favorite local takeout, invite your neighbors and head downtown.
