In December 2025 at the DMP Business Roundtable when local business owners raised questions about the future of our downtown and the types of businesses that would best complement the business mix, we saw an opportunity. We reached out to ask a simple question: What do residents want to see in Morris Plains? DMP teamed up with Plan Better Morris Plains this spring and find out. The response was clear and remarkably consistent.

Thank you for joining us this August to celebrate 100 years of Morris Plains cuisine for the Centennial Circuit promotion. Participants headed out 360+ times to local restaurants to sample the delicious food and beverages in Morris Plains, spending over $12,200.

Community input is an essential ingredient to helping identify types of businesses that could thrive in a specific area—whether that’s restaurants, retail, personal or professional services, entertainment, or larger employers. "Tracks Through Time" Morris Plains TRANSITional Art Project will celebrate movement, history, and human connection

We are excited to announce that Morris Plains has been selected as the location for NJ TRANSIT’s 2026 TRANSITional Art Project.

Now it’s even easier to bike to Morris Plains businesses! Three new original, artistic bike racks on Speedwell Avenue show the incredible power of collaboration. In 2024, Downtown Morris Plains launched a public bike rack design contest.

You asked... so we built it. Introducing our new mobile-friendly, filterable, business directory to help you easily find the businesses you need and continue to shop local, right here in Morris Plains!

We are thrilled to share that Downtown Morris Plains has been named as a 2024 Morris Arts Special Project Support grant recipient! The grant will help fund our bike parking design contest and installation, an exciting project blending the arts and accessibility in our downtown.

Speedwell, aka "Speedy", is an ongoing community art project made up of painted rocks from individuals, businesses, and organizations. Check him out in the alley between Mark Perrone's Barber Shop and Taylor's Consignment and add your stone.
